CutKit™ Precision Mast

The new CutKit™ Precision Mast is a total replacement of the original mast, height adjuster, yoke and protractor.  It is made to be paired with the Precision Handpiece--together they make a complete faceting arm which can be mounted on a variety of different faceting machine bases.

I've made a lot of upgrades, but upgrades can only take you so far, and I've finally just replaced every part on the faceting arm.  This allowed me to avoid all the loose tolerances and difficult design decisions I have been having to work around and instead focus on making it the way I want it to be.  These cut very similarly to the CutKit but with much less looseness and slop and better precision.

The height is adjusted with a micrometer rather than a split nut--this gives both better precision and a wider adjustment range.

The post is a precision 16mm linear shaft with a precision linear bushing, paired with a larger stainless steel foot.

The protractor design works just the same as the CutKit ProTractor upgrades for the original but with better mounting.

The side holders have detents to keep the precision handpiece in place but allow it to be removed if desired.

Overall it's much, much nicer to cut on.  I've been testing different prototypes for a while and I enjoy cutting with it a great deal.

Note that the original handpieces will technically fit, but their side posts tend to be out of round and struggle with the tighter specs of the precision mast, so I do not recommend using it except with the CutKit precision handpiece.
