Faceted YbAG Blue Laser Garnet, Pure Ytterbium Rare Earth Garnet

These are faceted ytterbium aluminum garnet, or YbAG, which was custom grown for us. Unlike the more common YAG (Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) this is pure Ytterbium Aluminum Garnet, getting its color from the inherent structure rather than trace dopants.

While YbAG has been used in the laser industry, it has never been publicly available to the gem world as far as we know.  This crystal in particular was grown with a custom formulation to enhance and deepen its blue color, which is a vivid deep aqua.
