Fancy Pixel Cut RetroHex in Color Change Lab Sapphire 21ct

This is a special pixel cut RetroHex in lab grown color change sapphire.  The stone weighs in at a 21 carats.

This stone also has an odd stitch of orange fluorescence running through the middle--the exact cause of orange fluorescence in sapphire is unknown and a subject of current research.

This is an experimental design trying to marry a simple, classic crown with a pixelated pavilion.  I'm not sure it was fully successful but it works really well with the strong pink to blue color change of the stone.  This was cut from an old stock vanadium-doped sapphire grown by the sadly defunct Djeva company in Switzerland who made the finest flame fusion gem rough.
