Pure Nd:YAG Gems, Violet Laser Garnet Loose Stones

These are violet Nd laser garnets (Nd:YAG) cut into various calibrated shapes:rounds, hexagons, and squares.  These are violet in normal light and turn pure colorless under fluorescent illumination (like a CFL bulb).  It also shifts from violet to magenta to blueberry purple depending on the color temperature of LED lighting, though this is less pronounced.

Note that the smaller squares can sometimes be a bit more trapezoidal, they have been discounted accordingly.

This is pure Nd:YAG, not the material codoped with Cerium, so you won't see any fluorescence under longwave UV (though the pale green/white under shortwave is still present).

Nd YAG has been used in lasers since 1964. It is still the most classic and widely-used variety. With a hardness of 8.5 it is ideal for use in all kinds of jewelry.
